Dalmatians

 Our Dalmatians

Our Dalmatians are elegant, strong, sturdy, intelligant dogs with loving personalities.  All our adult Dalmatians have great hearing, as do our puppies.  If you are looking for a loving new member to your family please take a look at our Dalmatian puppies for sale , if you would like to see our parents dogs please take a look at our Dalmatian Ladies and our Dalmatian Gents or if you are interested in getting a Dalmatian puppy in the near future take a look at our current and future litters.

 The Dalmatian

"The Dalmatian is a distinctively spotted dog; poised and alert; strong, muscular and active; free of shyness; intelligant in expression".  "The Dalmatian is capable of great endurance, combined with fair speed."  "The Dalmatian has good substance and is strong and sturdy in bone, but never coarse", their expression "is alert and intelligent". The Dalmatian's "temperament is stable and outgoing, yet dignified. Shyness is a major fault."  "High-spirited, yet very lovable."

The Dalmatian's desired weight is "50-60 Lbs."  with a "desirable  height at the withers being 19 to 24 inches."  The Dalmatian's "coat is short, dense, fine and close fitting. It is sleek, glossy, very shiny and healthy in appearance. " The Dalmatian can also have a long coat, though none of the registries accept the long haired variety any more they once were a common part of the Dalmatian breed. The Dalmatian's "base color is pure white with round, distinct, well-defined spots pleasingly and evenly distributed over the body, they vary from the size of a dime to the size of a half-dollar." The registries only accept dogs "with either black or liver spots", however the Dalmatian breed originaly came in many more colors, some of these colors include lemon, blue, brindle, and tri-colored. Some times these colors still show-up today though it is rare, this is largely due to the fact that most kennel clubs "recommend" that these beautiful and healthy puppies be " humanely destroyed". This is not right, these puppies are normally perfectly healthy and would make great family members.

Our Dalmatians Hearing

 What we do

We start testing our Dalmatian puppies hearing after their ears open and continue to test their hearing until they leave our kennel. We use different sounds and tones at varying distances and angles to test our puppies hearing. By using this tecnique we can determine if a puppy can hear, this is the only method our vet recommends for a puppy under 6 months of age. If a puppy is deaf it can be determined easily by this simple test, if a puppy has severe hearing loss this can normally be determined easily as well.  All of our breeding Dalmatians have great hearing and all of our Dalmatian puppies have had good hearing too.

As recommended by our vet, we do not have the BAER testing done on any of our adult dogs or any of our puppies. We consider it a dangerous and intrusive procedure.  Our vet also tells us that having the parents tested does not quarantee that any puppies from those dogs will have good hearing.

If you buy a puppy from us and have the BAER test done we will not be responsable for any health problems that may arise from or during the BAER testing procedure. .
